A new DVD that challenges perceptions of anti-social behaviour in Suffolk has just been launched at the Seckford Theatre at Woodbridge School on Wednesday 25 April at 7.30pm.

The DVD, part of a wider campaign entitled 'Let’s Get a Life!' which tackles issues of anti-social behaviour, featuring scenes acted by pupils of Deben High School in Felixstowe, from an idea of Crime Reduction Officer Keith Bartlett and Detective Sergeant Daye Goddard from Suffolk Constabulary Eastern Area Community Safety Unit.

It shows the views and reactions of local people and includes interviews with police officers from the newly-introduced Safer Neighbourhood Teams and other agencies, looking at issues of anti-social behaviour, raising awareness and promoting positive action and reporting of incidents.

The Local Strategic Partnership includes Suffolk County Council, Suffolk Coastal District Council, Suffolk Coastal PCT, and Suffolk Constabulary, provided funding to address perceptions of anti-social behaviour in the Suffolk Coastal district, with the aim of reaching and engaging young people to tackle the problem. Suffolk Coastal Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership worked with pupils from Deben High School on the project.

Deben High is a specialist school for the visual and performing arts and teachers, especially Emma Grimwood, decided to use the theme for their BTEC drama course. Police Education Partnership and Anti-Social Behaviour Officers worked with the students on the DVD that has already been shown to pupils rom local primary schools.

The Deben High production forms an integral part of the DVD, which was filmed and produced by Felixstowe’s East Coast Productions. It features “Mr Green”, the larger-than-life skeleton character they have developed to head the “Lets Get a Life!” campaign.

The DVD will be used in Suffolk schools in the local community.
